Joanne McKenzie, financial advisor with Edward Jones in Springfield, says now’s the time to keep paying down debt, so you can start investing.

Also, if you’ve had changes in your income, you might want to think about contributing more to your 401k.

She also encourages people to rebalance their portfolio — maybe it’s too risky or conservative.

And finally, consider using a professional to help you navigate your finances.

“They can just help you to be objective,” she says. “Sometimes when a person is trying to make those decisions on their own, their using their heart rather than their head.”
