The established reputation of City Index Australia, a legitimate ‘contracts for difference’ (CFD) trading company with an Australian financial services license (AFSL), was targeted by the almost identically named City Index Australasia (CIA) – which set up its own website and call centre, and went about a cold calling campaign to scam investors out of at least $ 38,000.
