SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Apple Inc and Twitter are currently not in discussions on the mobile technology giant taking a stake in the popular social networking site, sources familiar with the matter said.

Apple in recent months has held negotiations with Twitter to explore investing hundreds of millions of dollars in the company, The New York Times reported on Friday, citing people briefed on the matter. The Wall Street Journal said such discussion were held over a year ago, citing a person familiar with the matter.

It is unclear if the two companies talked about a deal in the past and at what level such discussions were held, but there are no current, formal talks…………… continues on Chicago Tribune

THE nation will need private investment to be ploughed into infrastructure in the towns and cities if it wants a chance to retain its economic health, a leading investment forecaster has warned.

While mining investment remains strong for now, more balanced investment will be needed to lift Australia’s economic capacity as the pace of spending on mining projects begins to slow, according to the Deloitte Access Economics’ investment monthly monitor for June.

It says a lack of investment in the nation’s urban infrastructure is of concern, with the share of $ 920 billion of national projects won by Victoria and NSW sliding to just 17 per cent after being as high as 32 per cent four years ago.

The monitor comes after recent warnings by leading business figures that Australia was falling behind its neighbours in the quality and level of investment in its roads, ports and other vital infrastructure.
